Unspoiled

Moran's is a magnificently unspoiled establishment, still operating from the old thatched house and staffed almost entirely by the Moran family. As well as oysters, you can get excellent seafood, cold crab, smoked salmon and fish soup. The little village of not much more than half a dozen houses is unspoiled, too, and that the road comes to an end within six feet of Moran's front door contributes to the whole feeling of otherworldliness.

Willie Moran voluntarily relinquished his Irish and world title for oyster opening this year and he was replaced by his twin brother, John, as Irish champion. John failed to get the world championship by something like half a second but, as he says cheerfully, he has plenty of time yet.....
